The National Grid programme to avoid blackouts has gone live today
THE NATIONAL GRID ESO'S SCHEME HAS GONE LIVE.
The scheme, called Demand Flexibility Service (DFS), is open to businesses and can generate payments for those that are able to participate by reducing their electrical demand for a number of hours when required. This could be achieved by simply using less energy, or using batteries, or generators during the periods required.
The minimum rate for participating has been set by the national Grid at £3,000 per MWh and there will be a minimum of 12 sessions up to the end of March 2023. Anyone can participate (there is no minimum size) and there are no penalties for being unable to participate in any of the sessions.
However, there are some rules for taking part such as:
· You must have half hourly meter data
· Be able to respond to an instruction sent the day prior
· You should not be actively participating in other flexibility services, such as Ancillary Services.
If you are a non-domestic / I&C electricity user contact us to find out more.
