NATIONAL GRID WINTER OUTLOOK PLACES EMPHASIS ON DEMAND SIDE FLEXIBILITY
Yesterday the National Grid released its Winter Outlook 2022/23. This sets out the key challenges the GB electrical network faces over the winter period and outlines proposals on how the UK will manage the electricity network during this period. Given the current energy crisis the UK is placing a greater emphasis on demand side flexibility to reduce the total electrical demand during peak periods.
Demand side flexibility involves network operators paying energy uses to reduce their electrical consumption over peak demand periods, typically for a couple of hours at time. Business can generate revenue for these services and Gridimp technology can automate the process on their behalf, ensuring payments are sent to businesses quickly and easily.
